Shares

A share is a proportional part of the capital stock of a corporation. It represents a person's ownership of a portion of that company. Normally, with some exceptions, shares are freely transferable and grant economic and political rights to their holder (shareholder).

As an investment, it is an investment in variable income, since it does not have a fixed return established by contract, but depends on the good performance of the company.

Bonds

A bond is a fixed-income debt security issued by a state, a regional government, a municipality or an industrial, commercial or service company. It can also be issued by a supranational institution, with the objective of obtaining funds directly from the financial markets. The issuer undertakes to repay the principal together with interest.

Venture Capital

It refers to companies that invest in venture capital funds, which channel large sums of money into new high-risk, high-return businesses, making enough money available to a new generation of entrepreneurs to take on existing companies.

CDA

The savings deposit certificate is an investment option for a determined term, which is contracted at a determined interest rate, with the option to receive interest quarterly, semi-annually, at maturity or some other option agreed between the Bank and the client by contract.

Consumer credit

Consumer credit or credit for the acquisition of consumer durables is the product that is granted to purchase a good or service for personal use in fixed terms.

It is usually applied to durable goods, such as automobiles, furniture, televisions, among others.

Financial Commodities

A commodity is defined as any good that has value or utility, and a very low level of differentiation or specialization. They usually refer to raw materials such as soybeans or wheat, which have a minimum standard quality, but there is no substantial difference between those produced in one field and those produced in another.

The price of a commodity is determined by the supply and demand conditions of the world market; if the commodity is scarce its price will tend to rise and if the harvest was abundant, it will tend to fall. In the financial world, commodities are underlying a futures contract on an established commodity exchange. The best known futures market is that of Chicago, USA.

Deflation

Deflation is the generalized fall in the price level of goods and services in an economy.

It is the opposite of inflation. It is the economic situation in which prices decrease and it is produced by a lack of demand, and it is much more dangerous and feared by governments than inflation.

Devaluation

Devaluation is the reduction of the nominal value of a current currency against other foreign currencies. The devaluation of a currency can have many causes, including a lack of demand for the local currency or an increased demand for the foreign currency. This can occur due to a lack of confidence in the local economy, in its stability and in the currency itself.

Diversification

There are two general definitions in the world of economics and finance. When we talk about investments, diversification is about spreading your investments in different destinations to broaden the options and variables with the objective of reducing risk.

If we are talking about a company, diversification is the process by which a company enters new markets and new products.

Investment fund

A Common Investment Fund (FCI) or Mutual Fund is an investment alternative that consists of pooling funds from different investors, natural or legal, to invest them in different financial instruments. This trading responsibility is delegated to a management company, which may be a bank or financial institution.

An investment fund is an asset made up of the contributions of various persons, called fund participants, administered by a management company responsible for its management and administration, and by a depository entity that holds the securities and cash, exercising guarantee and surveillance functions in relation to the investments.

Mutual fund

The Mutual Fund is the equity comprised of contributions from individuals and legal entities for investment in publicly traded securities and assets permitted by law, managed by a corporation for the account and at the risk of the participants or contributors.

Hyperinflation

When the inflation rate rises out of control and reaches uncontrollable levels, leading to the rapid loss of the value of money and uncontrolled price increases.

Stock Index

A stock market index corresponds to a composite statistic, usually a number, that attempts to reflect the variations in value or average returns of the stocks that compose it. Generally, the stocks that make up the stock market index have common characteristics such as: belonging to the same stock exchange, having a similar market capitalization or belonging to the same industry. They are commonly used as a benchmark for different portfolios, such as mutual funds.

Inflation

An economic process caused by an imbalance between production and demand. Inflation causes a continuous rise in prices, generally of products and services, and a loss of the value of money to be able to acquire or make use of them.

Interest

Interest is an index for measuring the profitability of savings or the cost of a loan. The different interest rates fix a percentage of the total amount saved or of the loan acquired. It indicates for a given amount of money and time, what percentage of that money would be obtained or would have to be paid in the case of a loan. The term is usually one year.

Financial liquidity

Financial liquidity is the ability of an asset to be converted into cash in the short term without the need to reduce the price. When referring to a company or entity, liquidity is the ability of the company or entity to obtain cash to meet its short-term obligations.
